Mayo on the Move: Record Summer Schedule Launched at Ireland West Airport - IrishAero - Irish Aviation Research Institute

Ireland West Airport has announced the launch of its busiest summer schedule to date, featuring a record-breaking expansion in both destinations and capacity. The 2025 summer season will see the airport operate flights to 22 international destinations, bolstered by an additional 110,000 seats on services to and from the West of Ireland.

Among the highlights of the expanded schedule is the introduction of a brand-new route from Groningen in the Netherlands. The weekly service will be operated by Emerald Airlines, which becomes the fourth international carrier to serve the airport, alongside Aer Lingus, Lauda Europe, and Ryanair.

Aer Lingus will maintain its daily service to London Heathrow using the Airbus A320neo aircraft, ensuring connectivity to over 80 global destinations.

Ryanair continues to play a pivotal role in the airport’s growth, offering flights to 17 destinations this summer. The airline has increased its capacity by nearly 20%, including additional weekly rotations on popular sun routes such as Alicante, Faro, Malaga, and Palma de Mallorca. It will also boost UK connectivity with a twice-daily Monday service to Liverpool and extra flights to key cities including Birmingham, Bristol, London Luton, London Stansted, and Edinburgh.

Ireland West Airport Managing Director, Joe Gilmore said “With an extra 110,000 seats available this summer, including the flexibility now for holidaymakers to choose from 3-, 5-, 7- and 10-day sun holiday breaks to some of our most popular sun destinations, it promises to be an exciting and busy summer at the airport. Furthermore, we are delighted to welcome the commencement of a new service from Groningen in the Netherlands, starting in June with BBI Travel, which will welcome thousands of Dutch tourists directly to the West of Ireland. Overall, we have a fantastic selection of destinations this summer, and we look forward to welcoming our loyal customers and indeed new customers to experience the benefits of flying from a convenient, stress-free and customer friendly airport.”
