Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest and most successful carrier, has taken delivery of its 37th Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, further reinforcing its position as a regional powerhouse with a modern and fuel-efficient fleet.

The latest addition to the fleet, a 737 MAX 8 registered ET-BAM (MSN 64141), was handed over on 22 August 2025. The aircraft departed Boeing’s Everett facility in Washington State and arrived at Dublin Airport at 09:41 local time, operating under the callsign ‘ETH9201’. The following day, it departed Dublin at 07:55 for a direct ferry flight to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, where it landed at 17:57 local time.

Demonstrating the airline’s operational readiness and efficiency, ET-BAM entered revenue service just a day later on 24 August, operating flight ETH939/8 to and from N’Djamena, Chad.

The induction of this aircraft brings Ethiopian’s 737 MAX fleet to 37, part of a broader strategy to modernize and expand operations across Africa and beyond. The carrier’s current fleet stands at 144 aircraft, comprising next-generation models including the Airbus A350-900 and -1000, Boeing 777s, 787 Dreamliners, 737-800s, and De Havilland Q400 turboprops.
