| Aer Lingus Long-Haul Traffic up 17% |
Aer Lingus announced it carried 1.141 million passengers in July up 2.9% versus July 2012.
The airline’s Atlantic operation carried 116,000 passengers up 17.2% with a load factor of 91.4% up 1.5 points with RPK’s up 17.8% on an 15.9% increase in ASM. It noted Q3 long haul are looking particularly positive.
On short-haul it carried 909, 000 passengers up 0.4% with a load factor of 85.9% up 0.9 points with RPK’s down 1.7% on an 2.6% reduction in ASM’s.
Aer Lingus Regional operated by Aer Arann carried 116,000 passengers up 10.5% and year to date has carried 609,000 passengers.
Compared to the Association of European Airlines (mainly so-called legacy carriers) as whole, the Aer Lingus passenger load factor was higher on both short-haul routes (85.9% v 81.1) and North Atlantic routes (91.4% v. 89.9%).
The airline admitted it’s his booking profile has somewhat eroded over July due to the Heatwave.
