Tailte Éireann announced the launch of two new surveying aircraft, in partnership with Cork Airport based Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA).
The introduction of the P.68 Vulcanair aircraft marks an unprecedented step forward in its surveying capabilities. These aircraft will enable Tailte Éireann to capture more accurate data faster than ever before, using Leica TerrainMapper-2 and CityMapper-2 aerial mounted sensors, which will significantly enhance mapping capabilities.
Atlantic Flight Training Academy CEO Mark Casey said “This marks a defining moment for both AFTA and Tailte Éireann. By combining AFTA’s operational expertise and Tailte Éireann’s vision, we are enabling a cutting-edge solution that not only advances Ireland’s national mapping capabilities but also highlights Cork’s position as a hub for innovation. We are proud to play a role in a project of such strategic importance to the nation and look forward to working with Liam and his team over the coming years.”
Tailte Éireann CEO stated “The implications of this advancement are vast. The improved accuracy and speed in data collection will serve the entire country – from developers and planners to environmental authorities and citizens.”
Tailte Éireann established in 2022, is an independent Government agency under the aegis of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, providing a property registration system, property valuation service, and national mapping and surveying infrastructure for the State.
