Brussels Airlines commenced operations of fourth Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ 100) on 29 June operating it’s first flight as SN2047 from Brussels to Birmingham.

The fourth SSJ 100 in the Belgian airline’s fleet (and the eighth for CityJet) is the aircraft with registration EI-FWG (MSN 95157) ex I-PDVX test registration. The aircraft was ferried to Brussels directly from Venice where the aircraft was customized by Russo-Italian joint venture SuperJet International.

The aircraft is flown under an aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) lease with CityJet crews providing a full Brussels Airlines in-flight product.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100B-100, an upgraded version of the SSJ100 regional jetliner which is capable of taking off from short runways, with the use of an increased traction engine with a basic maximum take-off weight, optimized avionics software and aircraft wing mechanization control systems, which together reduce the required take-off and landing distance of the aircraft.
