Dublin Airport has welcomed the announcement that United Airlines will expand its nonstop services between Dublin and the United States in summer 2025, offering more flights and seats than any other U.S. carrier. The airline’s expansion underscores the growing demand for transatlantic travel and enhances Ireland’s connectivity with North America.
United Airlines will significantly increase its operations from Dublin, including a seasonal doubling of its Dublin-Washington D.C. route from one daily to two daily Boeing 757-200 flights. Additionally, the carrier will upgauge its Dublin to Chicago O’Hare service, introducing the larger Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, and increase capacity on one of its two daily Newark flights by upgrading to a Boeing 777-200(ER), replacing the current Boeing 757-200.
Graeme McQueen, Head of Media Relations at daa, which operates Dublin Airport, expressed enthusiasm about the development stating “United’s expansion is great news for passengers and proof there’s demand for increased two-way transatlantic travel between Ireland and North America,” McQueen said. “The addition of these additional services is also another indication of why it is so important for Ireland’s connectivity that the passenger cap on Dublin Airport is lifted.”
He added, “Chicago and Washington are already really popular destinations for passengers travelling from Ireland, and this will also help bring more U.S. tourists to Ireland over the coming 12 months. This is good news for jobs, the economy, and the hospitality industry throughout the island. United is a great airline, and we can’t wait to work with them closely in 2025 to make these additional services a roaring success.”
Karolien De Hertogh, Director Sales UK and Ireland, United Airlines, said: “With this substantial increase in capacity and expansion of our Dublin schedule, we are delighted to offer our customers in Ireland even greater travel choice when booking their next U.S. getaway for summer 2025. For summer 2025, our customers in Ireland can also benefit from seamless connectivity via our hubs in New York/Newark, Chicago O’Hare and Washington D.C., to or from over 150 onward destinations across the Americas.”
