Dublin Airport Terminal 2 celebrated its 2nd Birthday on 19th November last since its opening over 16 million passengers have used the terminal, which is home to Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways , United Airlines and US Airways.

Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) Interim CEO Oliver Cussen said “The opening of T2 was the last element of a wider five-year construction programme that gave customers a new and improved Dublin Airport, with new two new departure gate areas, new campus roads, new car parks, new aircraft parking areas, new taxiways, and new and improved electricity, gas and water networks “.

Etihad Airways was the first carrier to begin using Terminal 2 on the 23rd November 2010 , with the opening of the new terminal and associated new gates on Pier E was a major factor in winning the new Emirates Airlines daily service to Dubai which commenced on the 9th January 2012.

The award-winning Terminal 2 landed two top awards at the LAMA Awards 2012, the building claimed the National Impact Award and Best Commercial Building awards, and the prize at the annual Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Awards in Amsterdam, for having the world’s best airport bars and restaurants at an airport handling 10-25 million passengers per year .Dublin Airport won the award for the quality of the food and beverage outlets.
