On October 17, 2024, Cork Airport had the honour of hosting the Bombardier Global 6500 demonstrator, N650BA (MSN 60114), a state-of-the-art business jet that showcases the latest in aviation technologies.

The sleek, long-range aircraft, which boasts a maximum range of 6,600 nautical miles, made a stop in Cork before continuing its journey to Wichita, Kansas, and onward to Las Vegas for the annual NBAA (National Business Aviation Association) conference.

The Global 6500, with its impressive range, can connect major cities like New York to Dubai and Hong Kong to London. Capable of carrying up to 17 passengers and four crew members, the aircraft reaches a high cruise speed of Mach 0.88, and maximum cruise altitude of 51,000 feet (FL510).

Powered by Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engines, the Global 6500 is engineered to deliver not only speed but also comfort, with a smooth flight experience that minimizes turbulence thanks to its Smooth Flĕx Wing technology.

The aircraft’s capabilities also extend to military use, with Bombardier Defense recently delivering the first Global 6500 to the U.S. Army , for its High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System (HADES) program.
