ITA Airways took delivery of EI-TYG (msn 2117 ) Airbus A330-941 on 31 December, continuing the build-up of its long-haul fleet named Lella Lombardi, is configured with 291 seats in a three-class layout and was ferried from Toulouse to Rome Fiumicino.
The delivery aligns with ITA Airways’ 2026–2030 business plan, which prioritises network expansion with a strong focus on long-haul growth. The carrier plans to launch new intercontinental routes from Rome Fiumicino to key markets in North America, South America, Asia and Africa, tapping into growing markets and meeting the needs of an increasingly global client base.
Under the plan, ITA intends to add one new long-haul aircraft per year from 2026, supporting network development while progressively retiring older aircraft and introducing next-generation, more environmentally efficient types. This supports ITA Airways network growth and promotes the use of the most advanced and environmentally friendly aviation technologies in terms of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
