Aer Lingus Regional exclusively operated by Emerald Airlines, has announced a capacity increase on its Belfast City–Southampton route for Summer 2026, responding to rising demand, particularly for cruise-related travel.

The Belfast City Airport’s largest carrier will add eight additional flights from April 2026, increasing capacity by more than 17,000 seats. The expanded schedule will deliver higher weekly frequencies, enhancing connectivity and flexibility for both business and leisure travellers to and from one of the UK’s busiest cruise ports.

Belfast City Airport Aviation Development Manager Ellie McGimpsey, said “At Belfast City Airport, we are committed to delivering strong regional connectivity from the heart of Belfast. The expansion of Aer Lingus Regional’s Belfast City–Southampton service further builds on this, particularly ahead of the peak cruise season. Combined with our excellent security times, these additional frequencies and enhanced timings will ensure our passengers enjoy greater choice and convenience this summer.”
