Ireland West Airport has reported its busiest first quarter on record, with 168,000 passengers passing through the terminal between January and March, a 6% increase on the same period in 2024.

Both Aer Lingus and Ryanair posted their highest-ever Q1 passenger numbers at the airport. Aer Lingus recorded an 8% increase in the number of passengers using the London Heathrow service, with the daily Airbus A320neo service continuing to go from strength to strength.

Ryanair, the airport’s largest carrier, carried 148,000 passengers during the first three months of the year, also a 6% year-on-year increase. The strong performance was driven by continued demand for winter sun destinations, with Malaga, Lanzarote, and Tenerife among the most popular routes.
