EC-NBC Airbus A319-112 msn 1184 Volotea arrived Ireland West Airport on 17 January 2025, at 14:29 local time, having flown directly from Verona, Italy, using flight number ‘VOE853’, for part-out and scrap, according to a report from German aviation website Skyliner Aviation.

This arrival marks the third Volotea A319 to be retired at Ireland West Airport proceeded by sistership EC-MTB msn 1684 and EC-NBD msn 1901 . The Airbus A319 phase out reflects the ongoing trend of airlines retiring older aircraft models as they upgauge to larger Airbus A320-200 aircraft, which offers enhanced fuel efficiency per passenger-kilometer.

According to Planespotters.net, this airframe made its first flight on December 5, 2002, as D-AVYU, and was subsequently delivered to Canadian airline Skyservice on January 23, 2003, as C-GTDT. The aircraft was later operated by Gulf Air from 2008 to 2013 under the registration A9C-EU, and by Ural Airlines from 2013 to 2019 as VP-BTF. In June 2019, the aircraft was delivered to Volotea.
