The town of Tours is in the Indre-et-Loire department of the Centre region (the Loire Valley), and it is the largest town in the region. A busy, thriving town Tours is also only an hour to the south-west of Paris. The main attraction in Tours, and the best place to start your visit, is in and around Place Plumereau where the old town (vieille ville or ‘le Vieux Tours’) is found. Place Plumereau is also a great place to sit at one of the cafes and enjoy people-watching.
