Ireland West Airport announced via Linkedin page the formal visit of British Ambassador to Ireland, Her Excellency Kara Owen, to Ireland West Airport on Friday 17 October.

IWAK Managing Director Joe Gilmore, shared the remarkable story of the airport, from its origins as a visionary regional project to its development as a vital gateway connecting the West and North West of Ireland with Britain and beyond.

The visit also provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the airport’s ambitious plans for future growth, including continued investment in infrastructure, enhanced connectivity and IWAK commitment to supporting tourism, business and economic development across the region.
The strong and longstanding links with Britain remain central to the airport’s success. IWAK plans to build on these important connections in the years ahead.

Ryanair for Winter 2026/7 will operate year round service to Bristol operating twice weekly on Fridays and Sundays and increase service to Liverpool operating ten weekly services with double daily service on Saturdays and Sundays.
