Canadian carrier Westjet announced it’s 2022 summer schedule with restoration of its network to nearly pre-pandemic levels. As part of its expanded schedule its commencing a new daily service from Chicago to Toronto operated by its subsidiary Westjet Encore which is optimized to offer a one-stop connecting service to a number of European cities including Dublin, from Thursday 19th May.
The carrier will commence its new Toronto to Dublin on Sunday 15th May initially operating four times weekly increasing to a daily service by 1st June using Boeing 737-8 MAX Aircraft.
WestJet Chief Commercial Officer John Weatherill stated “As we continue to focus on expanding our network from our Toronto hub where we offer 33 international destinations, these flights will further strengthen business and leisure ties between Canada and Ireland and will increase connectivity between two key markets.”
The Westjet Boeing 737-8 MAX is operated in a 174 seat configuration featuring 12 Premium Cabin and 162 Economy Cabin layout. The flights will feature the airline’s newly redesigned Premium cabin, that offers new levels of privacy and comfort, including an enhanced inflight dining experience and wider 2X2 seat configuration.
WestJet announced Dublin as the airline’s first transatlantic destination with seasonal daily service from St. John’s, Newfoundland which commenced on 15th June 2014 operating to 5th October using Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
