Virgin Atlantic Airways this morning commenced Little Red service on the Manchester to London Heathrow route operating four times daily bringing an new era of competition into the UK Short-Haul market.

Yesterday evening EI-DEO Airbus A320-214 c/n 2486 ‘Queen of the Cobbles’ positioned Dublin Airport to Manchester Airport as EIN982 prior to operating its first Virgin Little Red flight this morning as VIR3046 to London Heathrow.

A further three Aer Lingus aircraft EI-DEI c/n 2374 ‘Maggie May’  EI-EZV c/n 2001 ‘Tartan Lassie’ and EI-EZW c/n 1983 ‘Rosie Lee’ will be added to the fleet as on Friday 5th April a six times daily Edinburgh-London Heathrow services begins followed by a three times daily Aberdeen-London Heathrow service from Tuesday 9th April.
