Irish budget airline Ryanair announced on December 29, 2024, that it will take delivery of 29 brand-new Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 aircraft in 2025. Valued at $3 billion, the new aircraft will support the creation of over 2,000 high-paying aviation jobs across Europe, the carrier stated.

In a statement, Ryanair revealed that these new aircraft will be allocated to “efficient, low-cost airports in EU countries where governments are stimulating aviation growth,” specifically mentioning Sweden, Italy, Spain, and Poland. However, the airline emphasized that there would be “no growth in countries raising taxes, like the UK, France, and Germany.”

Jade Kirwan, Ryanair’s Head of Communications, stated “While most of Europe’s airlines remain capacity constrained, Ryanair is on track to take delivery of 29 new Boeing 737 aircraft in 2025. This additional capacity will enable Ryanair to grow our passengers from 200 million in 2024 to 210 million in 2025, and create 2,000 new jobs for highly paid aviation professionals at many of Europe’s most efficient, low-cost airports where governments are stimulating sustainable aviation growth by abolishing aviation taxes and lowering airport fees.”

In October 2024, the airline took delivery of its 172nd Boeing 737 MAX aircraft (registration EI-IKN, MSN 62383). A further 38 aircraft remain to be delivered under Ryanair’s 210-aircraft order book.

Notably, one of the pending deliveries, aircraft EI-IKP (MSN 67113), completed its second test flight at Boeing Field on December 12, reported Aviation Flights.

As of January 1, 2025, the Ryanair Group operates a fleet of 609 aircraft, according to Planespotters.net.
