Ryanair announced for Summer 2013 the launch of a new route from Lübeck to Porto operating three times weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays from 2nd April 2013 and resumes Girona route three times weekly (2nd April 2013) and Trapani route twice weekly (31st March 2013). In total the airline will operate seven routes from Lübeck in Summer 2013.

Ryanair Sales and Marketing Manager Germany Henrike Schmidt said “This once again demonstrates our commitment to the region, the airport and the passengers in northern Germany. With a new investor for the airport Lübeck and associated new destinations, we are optimistic about 2013 “.

Lübeck Airport MD Jürgen Friedel said “The Costa Brava, Portugal and Sicily are very attractive targets for our passengers we see this as a clear sign that the market is on the predictability that the new investor Lubeck Airport offers, to respond “.

On 1st January 2013 the ownership of Lübeck Airport changed to the newly-founded Yasmina Lubeck Airport Management GmbH owned by German-Egyptian businessman Mohamed Rady Amar. Mr Amar is planning a €20 million investment over the next five years and is targeting profitability in 2018.

Lübeck Airport is largest commercial airport in Schleswig-Holstein Region linking the Hamburg metropolitan and Baltic Sea regions to destinations in Europe. Ryanair launched it’s first route from London Stansted to Lübeck Airport in 2000.
