To meet increased demand, Lufthansa is operating the larger Airbus A319 aircraft on three times weekly service from Cork to Frankfurt Main for the remainder of July. The Airbus A319 aircraft has a configuration of 138 seats, offering 48 more seats than the Bombardier CRJ900, the aircraft which typically operates the service.

Frankfurt Main is an important European airport hub, offering passengers the opportunity to make onward connections on the wider Lufthansa global network.

Tourism Ireland research shows that Germany is the third-largest market for overseas tourism to the island of Ireland and is the largest source market from continental Europe. The Frankfurt Rhine-Main region is one of the most populated regions in Germany – home to an estimated 5.8 million people.
