Irish Aircraft leasing firm up for sale, could be worth $7bn

Dublin-based AWAS has been put up for sale by its private equity owner in an auction that could value the aircraft lessor at $7 billion, including debt, and draw bids from Chinese lessors and other Asian investors, sources said. AWAS offers a portfolio of about 200 aircraft and a leasing platform through which it caters to about 90 customers such as Singapore Airlines and Qantas Airways.

Milestone Aviation Names Daniel Rosenthal President and CEO

Milestone Aviation Group Limited announced that President Daniel Rosenthal has been named President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2017. Richard Santulli, GE Officer and Milestone Chairman, will leave GE but continue to serve Milestone in an advisory capacity. Rosenthal, 41, has spent most of his career in leadership positions at some of the most innovative organizations in the aviation industry. In 2009, he co-founded Milestone, the first global helicopter leasing company. He previously spent four years at NetJets, where he held various leadership roles.

Terra Firma seeks to sell aircraft leasing company AWAS worth $7 bn

European private equity firm Terra Firma Capital Partners Ltd has aircraft leasing company Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services (AWAS) put on sale through an auction that may attract bids worth $7 billion, Reuters reported, citing unnamed sources. Terra Firma is working with Goldman Sachs to conduct the auction and potential bidders have already been contacted, the report said.
