Ireland’s air traffic showed growth of 6.2% in February compared to prior year according to statistics released yesterday by Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).
Cork Air traffic movements declined by 5.3% and Dublin’s where up 7.2% and Shannon by 5.3%.
IAA’s North Atlantic Communications services (for flights operating between Europe and North America) saw an increase of 2.89% in February 2014, when compared to February 2013.
The busiest day for flights in Irish airspace was 21st February with a total of 1,339 flights.
New services being launched in April by Aer Lingus from Dublin to San Francisco and Toronto and new Ryanair routes from Shannon to Ryanair announcing a number of new routes for the summer, including Berlin, Paris, Fuerteventura, Warsaw, Faro, Munich, Nice and Krakow, will further boost air traffic movements.
