Easyjet announced that following a successful trial of allocated seating the airline is to roll out allocated seating across it’s route network effective 27th November following feedback from customers which showed that 70% think allocated is better than first come first served policy with 60% of customers more likely to use Easyjet in future as a result.

Allocated seats will cost £3 and passengers will be able to purchase seats with extra legroom for £12 and reserve seats in the first few rows for £8.

Easyjet CEO Carolyn McCall said: “Our customers asked us to trial allocated seating and we are really pleased with the positive passenger feedback during the trial. As importantly, we have shown that we can do so while delivering strong on time performance – the most important driver of passenger satisfaction”.

Easyjet has six Airbus A319s based at Belfast International Airport operating 23 domestic and international routes and is to launch a new route to Birmingham effective 22nd October operating double daily and is to add extra frequencies on routes to Edinburgh, London, Manchester.
