In Summer 2019 Dublin Airport will have services operated by all three variants of the Boeing 787-8, 787-9, 787-10 Dreamliner in a historic first.

John Schubert Boeing Commercial Airplanes Managing Director, marketing Asia Pacific and India said “New routes have opened up due to the 787’s right size and game-changing technology and economics; this has allowed airlines to open up services,” (Routesonline March 2016).

Four carriers American Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines, Qatar Airways, TUI will operate the Boeing 787-8 on routes to Chicago and Addis Ababa via Madrid, Doha, Cancun and Montego Bay respectively.

Three carriers American Airlines, Etihad Airways and Westjet will operate the 787-9 to Dublin. American Airlines will operate a new route from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) ) daily service will run from 6 June to 28 September 2019 exploiting the range capability for a new ‘spoke’ from its Dallas/Forth Worth Hub.

Etihad Airways is to introduce the 787-9 on four weekly services from 31 March 2019 as the carrier increases to Abu Dhabi.

Westjet will launch a new route to Calgary operating three times weekly.

United Airlines will operate its latest B787-10 Dreamliner on its Dublin-New York/Newark route commencing on 23 May 2019 replacing Boeing 777-200 aircraft.  United President Scott Kirby said “They’re a phenomenal European airplane”.
