Air France, Monday 1 May, debuted the Airbus A220-300 on Paris CDG to Dublin route on flight AFR1816 (ATC Callsign AFR29BU) touching down at 1640 local, operated by F-HZUC msn 55140. The carrier took delivery of the first of sixty A220-300 aircraft in September 2021, with 20 in service from an firm order for 30 aircraft and an additional 30 purchase rights stating the aircraft was ‘The latest jewel in the fleet on its short and medium-haul network.”
The Airbus A220-300 is gradually replacing existing Airbus A318s and A319s as well as several Airbus A320s aircraft, with a cost reduction per seat of 10%, a 25% reduction in fuel burn and CO2 emissions and a 50% reduced noise footprint compared to pervious generation aircraft .
The A220-300 is configured in 148 seat layout in business and economy in a 3-2 seat configuration (5 seats across) offering 80% of customers a window or aisle seat, with access to Air France Connect, the airline’s inflight Wi-Fi service. The seat is the widest on the market (48 cm), reclining to 118 degrees and has an adjustable headrest, leather upholstery and an ergonomic seat cushion for enhanced comfort.
For added comfort the A220-300 is fitted with a wide solid tray table, cup holder, a pouch for storing magazines and books, individual USB A and C ports and tablet or smartphone holder integrated into the backrest complete the package.
The Airbus A220-300 is increasing popular on short haul routes into Dublin utilized by Air Baltic, Air France and Swiss International Airlines.
