Aeroméxico has completed the transition of its final two Irish-registered aircraft to the Mexican register, closing a multi-year re-registration process on 26 November with the transfer of two Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft.
The aircraft involved are EI-GZB (manufacturer serial number 42839) and EI-GZC (msn 42841), both powered by CFM International LEAP-1B27 engines. Following re-registration, EI-GZB now operates as XA-OTB, while EI-GZC has become XA-OTC.
EI-GZB was delivered from Boeing Field to Mexico City on 23 November 2021. Like its sistership, the aircraft had originally been allocated to Norwegian Air Sweden, where it was intended to enter service as SE-RTF. EI-GZC was delivered on 20 November 2021 and was likewise originally destined for Norwegian Air Sweden as SE-RTH, later spending time in storage under the US registration N5573P prior to joining Aeroméxico.
With the re-registration of XA-OTB and XA-OTC, Aeroméxico has now transferred all five of its Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft previously operating on the Irish register to Mexican registrations. The full group includes EI-GZA (msn 42837), now XA-GOS; EI-GZE (msn 42842), now XA-GRS; and EI-GZF (msn 63974), now XA-GNS.
The move aligns Aeroméxico’s narrowbody MAX fleet fully under the Mexican register, simplifying regulatory oversight.
