Dublin Airport

New passenger data released by ACI Europe this morning shows that Dublin Airport (Group 1) was the fastest growing major airport in Europe in August growing at 9% ahead of Amsterdam Schiphol (+7.9%), Barcelona (+6.8%) , Copenhagen  (+6.6%) , and London Gatwick (+5.7%).

Dublin Airport’s passenger traffic growth was well above the average increase of just +2.0% across the European airport network.

The news come on hots on the heels that a record 1.2 million Northern Ireland residents used Dublin Airport during 2015, which was a 37% increase on the previous year.

Dublin Airport is also growing its importance as a key international gateway for overseas visitors to Northern Ireland, as 67% of all passengers who came by air to the island of Ireland traveled via Dublin Airport last year.

London Heathrow was the most popular destination for Northern Ireland residents using Dublin Airport last year, followed by New York’s JFK, Dubai, Brussels, and Paris Charles De Gaulle.
