Etihad Airways introduced its flagship Airbus A350-1000 service on its daily Abu Dhabi to Dublin EY45/2 service four times weekly with the start of IATA summer season on 26th March operated by registration A6-WXF msn 388, and Boeing 787-9/10 aircraft operating alternative days.
Dublin Airport Managing Director Vincent Harrison said “We are very happy to welcome Etihad’s A350 aircraft to Dublin Airport. It’s testament to the success and popularity of the Dublin-Abu Dhabi route that Etihad has made the decision to fly its larger A350 this summer. The A350 not only brings a new level of comfort for Irish passengers, but it is also highly efficient in terms of fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions. Dublin Airport will continue to work closely with Etihad to promote its services from Dublin.”
Etihad Airways Senior Vice President Global Sales and Cargo Martin Drew said previously when aircraft was launched on New York JFK route that “This is an incredible aircraft with highly efficient fuel consumption and CO2 savings, which enables us to support our goals to reduce carbon emissions and deliver an unmatched flight experience for our guests”
The 371 seat aircraft is an two class configuration with with 327 economy smart seats in a 3-3-3 arrangement, of which 45 ‘Economy Space’ seats have been enhanced with an additional four inches of legroom and 44 Business Studios with sliding doors that provide a high level of privacy to each suite, with a width of over 20”, converts into a fully-flat bed of 79” in length, and features ample storage for convenience.
The Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-powered Airbus A350 is one of the most efficient aircraft types in the world, with 25% less fuel burn and CO2 emissions than previous-generation twin aisle aircraft.
Etihad, Airbus and Rolls Royce in 2021 launched the Sustainability50 programme which sees Etihad’s A350s used as flying testbeds of new initiatives, procedures and technologies to reduce carbon emissions, building on the learnings derived from Etihad’s similar Greenliner programme for the Boeing B787 aircraft type.
The first visit of an Etihad Airways took place on 7th January as A6-WXE msn 343 ETD101/0 diverted to Dublin en-route from New York JFK to Abu Dhabi.
