Aer Lingus and Norwegian tourism partners have highlighted the growing opportunities for Irish travellers to experience Norway, with aviation connectivity at the centre of a special Into Norway Day held in Dublin. Aer Lingus is currently operating its Dublin–Oslo service four times weekly up to 31 October. The service enables Irish travellers access to a broad range of Norwegian experiences.
IrishAero joined Norwegian and Irish travel trade partners at the event, hosted by Aer Lingus and the Norwegian Embassy at the Norwegian Ambassador’s Residence in Dublin on Tuesday, 15 September.
Hosted by Norwegian Ambassador Aslak Brun and his wife, Synnøve Roald. The evening brought together representatives from aviation, tourism, accommodation and regional destination organisations to strengthen commercial links between Ireland and Norway.
The connectivity supports sales opportunities ranging from city breaks in Oslo and touring holidays through Norway’s spectacular landscapes to winter sports, Arctic experiences and Northern Lights-focused itineraries in northern Norway.
The event also highlighted the tourism potential of Innlandet, Norway’s inland region, with a delegation representing attractions, accommodation providers, cultural organisations, ski resorts and destination management bodies. The region is very accessible with train connection from Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
Norwegian State Secretary Sigrid Ina Simonsen addressed delegates on the close links between Ireland and Norway and the growing consumer interest in cooler-climate destinations. The so-called “coolcation” trend. Her remarks underlined the potential for Norway to build further demand among Irish travellers seeking outdoor experiences, nature, culture and cooler summer temperatures.
