Aer Lingus operated an Airbus A321XLR on its Dublin–London Heathrow–Ireland West Airport rotation on 8 August, marking the third appearance of the type at Ireland West Airport.
The carrier deployed A321-253NY-XLR EI-XLT (MSN 11590), named St Melanie, on the four-sector W-pattern operation EIN156/915/916/161. The rotation operated Dublin–London Heathrow–Ireland West–London Heathrow–Dublin, with the A321XLR substituting for the route’s scheduled 186-seat A320neo.
Aer Lingus previously deployed EI-XLX (MSN 12142), named St Brendan, to Ireland West on 12 and 24 May, making Saturday’s operation the third A321XLR visit.
The two-class A321XLR’s features 184 seats, including 16 full-flat Business Class seats and 168 Economy seats, all equipped with Airbus’ Airspace Cabin for enhanced passenger comfort. XL overhead bins offer 60% more storage space, and in-seat connectivity is available for all passengers.
The A321XLR is powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines, offering 30% lower fuel burn and reduced emissions compared to previous models. It is also capable of using up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), aligning with Aer Lingus’ sustainability goals.
