Air Nostrum has added two former CityJet Mitsubishi CRJ1000s to its fleet as the Spanish regional carrier continues to evaluate its future fleet strategy. The aircraft EI-HIA (MSN 19006), now registered EC-OTF, and EI-HID (MSN 19024), now registered EC-OTG, both previously operated for Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) under Cityjet’s wet-lease agreement.
EI-HIA completed its final CityJet service on 17 May, operating SAS2583/2584 between Copenhagen and Luxembourg. After positioning via Milan Malpensa, the aircraft arrived in Valencia on 19 May and entered service with Air Nostrum on 16 June, operating ANE1082 from Valencia to Madrid.
EI-HID operated its final CityJet flight on 20 January between Copenhagen and Hamburg. The aircraft later repositioned from Ljubljana to Valencia on 30 March and entered commercial service for Air Nostrum on 26 April, operating Iberia Regional flight IBE1033/1034 between Madrid and Almeria.
The additions come as Air Nostrum reviews the future of its 31-strong CRJ1000 fleet. The carrier is assessing whether to extend the aircraft’s operational life through major maintenance programmes or begin a transition to next-generation regional jets, with the Airbus A220-300 and Embraer E2 family among the options under consideration.
